Description
A collection of approximately 425 incoming and outgoing letters and invoices documents the
business activities of the Page Seed Company, founded in 1896 by Erford Lydell Page and
Cornelia Page in Greene, Chenango County, New York. Letterheads on outgoing letters
(1901-1946) and outgoing invoices (1911-1958) trace the company's changes in emphasis over
time, from "growers of seeds, bulbs and plants (1901-1913) to "seedsmen" (from 1912),
"growers and importers of seeds" (1913-1914), "growers and importers of garden, field and
flower seeds" (1920-1923), "growers and importers of seeds" (1930), or "growers and
wholesalers of seeds" (1956-1958). Incoming letters (1896-1957) and invoices (1897-1942)
chiefly quote seed availability and prices, or shipments send or received, or involve order
or contract disputes.
