Content Description
Materials consist of approximately 50 interviews on cassette tapes in which Donna Hollenberg interviews various contemporaries
of poet Denise Levertov about Levertov, as well as correspondence between Hollenberg and the interviewees.

Biographical / Historical
Denise Levertov was a poet. Born in England of Welsh and Russian parents, she emigrated to the United States with her husband,
Mitchell Goodman, in 1948, becoming an American citizen in 1955. She was influenced strongly by William Carlos Williams, Robert
Duncan, and Robert Creeley. Donna Hollenberg is a Professor Emerita at the University of Connecticut. She wrote the book A
Poet's Revolution: The Life of Denise Levertov.
