Background
Frederick A. Corr (1889-1932) was the Chief Pharmacist's Mate on the USS Tutuilla and USS Isabel on the Yangtze Patrol in the 1920s. The Yangtze Patrol Force protected US interests and citizens on the river for nearly a century, from the 1850s to the 1940s, one of the longest continuous US military operations. Corr was married to Lila Mae Corr (née Murphy). His wife was killed by her father in June 1928, and Corr received the news in a letter from his mother-in-law, which he mentions in a letter to his brother Edgar.
