Biography
Robert F. Dannenbrink, Jr. is an urban designer and planner with expertise in architecture,
urban design, city and campus planning in public and private organizations. During his
career, Dannenbrink supervised several national, state, and local projects, contributed to
multiple publications, and served as a professor and lecturer.
From 1966 to 1970, Dannenbrink was the head of urban design for the Department of City
Planning, City of Los Angeles, California, where he contributed to projects including the
Proposed Vernon-Central Community Plan; the Los Angeles Centers concept and Miracle Mile
Center framework; and Townscape analysis and design including citizen interview
questionnaires. From 1972 to 1986, Dannenbrink was the manager of urban design and planning
for The Irvine Company, where he supervised and developed Woodbridge Village; activity
corridors; University Town Center Village; Turtle Rock Village; Westpark Village; Irvine
Regional Center; Quail Hill Village; Castaways Site, Newport Beach; Heritage Fields, Great
Park; Irvine Business Complex; and Woodbury Village in Orange County, California. From 1986
to 1992, he was the manager of campus planning and design for the University of California,
Irvine, where he prpeared the 1989 Long Range Development Plan, supervised Medical Center
urban design planning, and guided growth projections for land use, campus design, and
architecture.
