    Scope and Contents

The two San Francisco Examiner newspapers document the Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann trial. Eichmann was one of the most pivotal actors in the implementation of the "Final Solution." Charged with managing and facilitating the mass deportation of Jews to ghettos and killing centers. He was a principal organizer of the Holocaust. The Eichmann trial began on April 11, 1961, in Jerusalem, Israel, and sparked international interest in the events of the Holocaust. The proceedings were one of the first trials widely televised and brought Nazi atrocities to a worldwide audience. He was found guilty of several of the charges asserted in the indictment and was sentenced to death.
