Biogaphical Note
Regina Derieva (1949-2013) was a Russian poet with over thirty published works of poetry, prose, and fiction. Born in Odessa,
Ukraine, Derieva started to write poetry at age of 15. From 1960 until 1991 she lived and worked in Akmolinsk (Tselinograd
/ Akmola) and Karaganda, Kazakhstan. She graduated from university with majors in music and Russian philology
and literature. In 1990 Regina and her family converted to Catholicism and soon moved to Israel. From July 1999 until her
death on December 11, 2013, Derieva lived in Sweden. Regina Derieva's work was highly valued by Joseph Brodsky, Tomas Venclova,
Les Murray, Daniel Weissbort, Bengt Jangfeldt and many other poets and intellectuals.
Scope and Contents
The papers consist of correspondence (only incoming letters), writings, personal papers (including legal records and documents),
audio material, photography archive, drawings and paintings, newspaper clippings and printed materials, spanning the years
1949-2015.
Arrangement
The papers are divided into 12 separate series: 1) Biographical file; 2) Correspondence; 3) Writings; 4) Regina Derieva's
poetry translated into different languages, by others; 5) Translations of poetry into Russian by Regina Derieva; 6) Regina
Derieva as an editor; 7) Printed matter of contemporaries, signed by Regina Derieva; 8) Art work; 9) Photographs; 10) Audio
materials and born-digital materials; 11) Miscellaneous; and 12) Bibliography

an authorization to publish. These materials are made available for use in research, teaching, and private study. Any transmission
