    Scope and Content of Collection

    Our Paper (1984 – 1988) located at 973 Park Avenue, San Jose, CA 95126, was published bi-monthly as an independent newspaper for the Silicon Valley gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. Items include production materials, such as photographs, layout boards, advertiser art, cartoons, newspaper clippings, periodicals, political campaign records and business records. Materials reference the HIV AIDS crisis, community and political activism, gay and lesbian social events, nightclubs and bars, local businesses, Gay Pride, and local theater arts news. Many photographs were taken by photojournalist Theodore (Ted) Sahl, author of From Closet to Community: A Quest for Gay and Lesbian Liberation in San José & Santa Clara County (2002).
