    Scope and Content

Collection of photographic views chiefly related to Native American and Hispanic culture in New Mexico. Many are commercially produced views, but snapshots by unknown photographers are also present. The collection was, presumably, amassed by a dealer for sale. Several views were taken in Santa Fe. Other New Mexico locations are Laguna Pueblo, Tesuque Pueblo, Albuquerque, Las Vegas Hot Springs (Montezuma), Santo Domingo, San Juan, Santa Clara Pueblo and Isleta Pueblo. Subjects of views include churches, Native American and Hispanic material culture, adobe structures and more general street scenes and town views. Among the groups represented are the Navajo, Tesuque and Laguna. Includes photographs by Henry Brown, D.B. Chase, W.E. Hook, Christian Kaadt, B.H. Gurnsey, F.A. Nims, William Henry Jackson, Cunningham & Co., Keystone View Co., Bennett & Brown, W. Ira Rudy, Francis F. Parker, and J.N. Furlong.

    Note

Most dates estimated by dealer, presumably based on active dates of photographers. The dealer also provided descriptive identifications or supplemented captioned items with further identification.
