Background
The Los Angeles County Fair wine judging competition is the nation's oldest county
fair event of its kind. The competition was first held in 1935 but it went on hiatus
during World War II. It has now taken place every year since 1948. The event is
currently named the Los Angeles International Wine Competition. It has previously
been called the Wines of the Americas competition and the Wines of the World
competition.
