Archives, Stanford University Libraries, Stanford, Calif.
Scope and Contents
Approximately 60 prints collected by Brandt depicting transportation and other subjects in California, especially railroads
and street cars. Brandt contributed many images to books and magazines on the history of railroards and the San Francisco
Bay Area, and the Western Neighborhoods Project's OpenSFHistory.org contains a large Emiliano Echeverria/Randolph Brandt Collection
(http://opensfhistory.org/Photoset/Echeverria-Brandt_Collection). He also donated some material to Stanford's Hopkins Transportation
Library, which this collection was probably part of at one time (some are stamped as such on the back). Other prints have
Brandt's personal stamp "Photo from Rudolph Brandt, San Francisco" while others have handwritten "R.C. Brandt 4/10/41." The
majority are good quality copy prints, with some perhaps as old as 1941, while others may be original.
