Description
This collection consists of the administrative papers of the Federation of Retired Union Members (FORUM). Materials include the organization's by-laws, minutes, correspondence, bank and dues statements, and health care files and programs.
Background
Tim Paulson was a journeyman tilesetter who served in several labor organizations including the San Mateo County Central Labor Council (2001-2004), the San Francisco Labor Council (2004-2018) and the San Francisco Building and Construction Trades Council (2018). The Federation of Retired Union Members (FORUM) was affiliated with the San Francisco Labor Council and it was formed to assist retired union members to organize local union chapters. Among its other purposes were to preserve the spirit of unionism, to promote participation in social, economic, political, cultural and community activities, and to act as clearinghouse to develop an effective program for advancing the cause of all retirees, including recommendations for legislative activity.
