From dealer description:
"Archive of letters, photographs, printed ephemera, typescripts, and published articles, 1924-1981, documenting the long career of tobacco industry engineer and executive Rush D. Touton of the Philadelphia-based Wurton Machine Company and (later) the Solaranza Company. Early in his career Touton designed and patented successful machines and special production processes for tobacco casing and curing. In concert with Harry P. Wurman, Executive Vice-President of the Philadelphia-based Bayuk Cigar Company (maker of the famous "Phillies" cigar), Touton established the Wurton Machine Co. Working out of Bayuk's cigar factory, the Wurton Company manufactured and leased improved tobacco stringing machines and provided technical assistance to tobacco growers, especially in Connecticut and Sumatra. In turn, these growers sold their tobacco to the Bayuk Company. In 1961 Touton took complete control of the Wurton Company, renamed it the Solaranza Company, and trained its expertise on Puerto Rican tobacco production, still for the benefit of the Bayuk Company, with which Touton worked simultaneously as technical advisor and public spokesman for over 50 years.
"Rush Touton's records of his tobacco industry career comprise: over 125 photographs, [...] over 340 manuscript, typed, and printed items, [...] typescripts, off-prints, and advertisements for Touton's professional articles, speeches, and public announcements regarding tobacco machinery, and typed and printed technical reports, diagrams, instructions and leases for the same; and related paper and metal tobacco ephemera (e.g., booklets, metal nameplates for machinery produced by Touton's businesses)."
