Biographical/Historical note
The Stanford University Tenth Presidential Search Committee was convened in 1999. Its charge was to recommend a candidate
for president to the Board of Trustees. In April 2000, John L. Hennessy was announced as the successor to ninth president
Gerhard Casper.
