Description
Lin Gilbert Davis (b. 1942 September 15) is an LGBTQ rights activist who lived in San Francisco between 1967 and 1993. This collection includes Davis’s photographs documenting women’s and lesbian gatherings in the 1970s Bay Area and Oregon; materials related to her 1990 wedding; and LGBT activist ephemera, t-shirts, and periodical, primarily dating to Davis’s years in San Francisco. Photographs include images of Barbara Hammer and Gloria Churchman; the Women on Wheels concert, including Holly Near and Cris Williamson; and a visit to WomanSpace in Oregon.
Background
Lin Gilbert Davis (b. 1942 September 15) is an LGBTQ rights activist. Born in Denver and raised in Washington and Ohio, Davis moved to San Francisco in 1967. In 1987, Davis joined the San Francisco contingent in the March on Washington. Also in 1987, she met Maureen “Mo” Longworth, whom she would marry in 1990. In 1993, Davis and Longworth relocated to Juneau, Alaska, becoming active in the state’s LGBTQ movement.
