    Content Description

    This collection contains one letter from Seaman First Class Joseph M. Accurso, United States Navy to Bill and Flo in Chicago, Illinois during the Second World War. Accurso wrote the letter aboard the USS Macomb (DMS-23) in Tokyo Bay, Japan on September 2, 1945, VJ Day, after sweeping mines for the USS Missouri upon which the Japanese surrender was signed that day. On the envelope is a colored illustration of the USS Macomb floating with a mountain in the background, with the words "USS Macomb...Journey's End...Tokyo Bay."
