This collection consists of the working files from Melvin B. Lane's service on the California Coastal Commission and California
Coastal Zone Conservation Commission, ca. 1972-1980. The files contain correspondence, reports, maps, newspaper clippings,
notes, and other materials.
Background
Melvin B. Lane (1922-2007) served as the first chairman of the California Coastal commission. He served on the CCC from 1973-1977.
He also served on the California Coastal Zone Conservation Commission. Lane was the co-owner and publisher of Sunset Magazine
and was also a trustee of Stanford University.
