Biographical / Historical
The Standard School Broadcast was founded in 1928 with the intent to promote music
appreciation and American history for young students on the Pacific Coast of the United
States. The program's sponsor, Standard Oil of California, partnered with the NBC Pacific
Coast Network to carry the broadcast over the air waves until the 1950s. The Standard School
Broadcast afterwards moved into syndication receiving in 1975 the Peabody Institutional
Award for excellence in continuous educational radio programming.
