    Abstract: The collection of Debbie Dewees, who was the director of the Stanford Medical Alumni Association and Public Events between 1989 and 1992. Most materials date from 1989-1992 and pertain to Stanford University Medical Alumni Association events and programming. Events programs and dinner invitations form the core of the collection, while photographic prints, news bulletins, and a copy of the Remarks of the Board of Trustees compose the supporting materials.

    Arrangement

    Events Programs: The events programs series reflects events sponsored by the Stanford Medical Alumni Association, Progress in Medicine lectures, the Stanford Centennial Symposium and Meetings of the President's Cancer Panel held at Stanford University School of Medicine. This series includes a program for The J.E. Wallace Sterling Distinguished Alumnus Award presented to Marcus A. Krupp, M.D. and Alvin J. Cox, Jr., M.D..
    Dinner Invitations: The dinner invitations series contains a card for a private tour of the newly constructed Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital, a VIP dinner seating chart, and Medical Alumni Association dinner invitations, two of which indicate music performances by Stanford Medical Alumni Association vocalists group "Chord Blue" and another with the "Margie Baker Band" led by the noteworthy San Francisco Jazz singer Dr. Margie Baker.
    Photographs: A collection of 9 photographic prints that were taken around 1990 and depict Stanford alumni board gatherings at the Stanford vs. UCLA (The University of California, Los Angeles) annual New Year's Day Rose Bowl football game, and an alumni dinner for Southern California alums held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles. These photographs contain pictures of Dr. Marcus Krupp and his wife Donna Krupp.
    Stanford News Bulletins: This series includes an announcement for a 1991 Stanford centennial conference on Sigmund Freud and psychoanalysis accompanied by an antiquities exhibition of Freud's personal art collection that was on display at Stanford Art Gallery.
    Remarks of the Board of Trustees: This series contains a report by former Stanford University School of Medicine dean Dr. David Korn on the relationship between universities and their medical schools.

    Scope and Contents

    The collection of Debbie Dewees includes medical alumni events programs and memorial lectures; alumni dinner invitations; invitations to the "big game," a college football rivalry game played between Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley; photographs; Stanford medicine news bulletins; and remarks to the board of trustees by former Stanford University School of Medicine Dean Dr. David Korn. The majority of the collection is found in the events programs series. This series reflects the various events sponsored by Stanford Medicine and includes talks on the nervous system, dermatology, gynecology and obstetrics, and atherosclerosis with a corresponding newspaper clipping from the San Francisco Chronicle on the newly discovered ATHS gene. Within this series is a program for the first John J. King lecture series with speaker Dr. Rita Charon who would later originate the field of narrative medicine. The Stanford news bulletin series includes an announcement for a 1991 Stanford centennial conference on Sigmund Freud and psychoanalysis accompanied by an antiquities exhibition of Freud's personal art collection that was on display at Stanford Art Gallery.
