Abstract: The Chinese Community newspaper, started publication in the early 1980s and was the first Chinese newspaper to be published
in Southern California. The collection consists of a weekly Chinese language newspaper that chronicles Southern California's
suburban Chinese Community.

Biography/History
The Chinese Community newspaper started publication in the early 1980s and was the first Chinese newspaper to be published
in Southern California. The paper provided a forum for social, political, and cultural news as well as a place for unknown
and/or up and coming writers to publish short stories and poems.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of a weekly Chinese language newspaper that chronicles Southern California's suburban Chinese Community.
Each newspaper contains writings about political, social, economic, cultural, and entertainment (Chinese and American) news
and advertisements pertinent to the Southern California Chinese community. Some of the newspapers are titled
Nan Hu Shi Bao and appear to have been published by the Chinese Community News Corporation.

The collection is arranged in loose chronological order.
