Description
An album of 120 photographs highlighting the career of John Anson Ford (1883-1983), who served on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors 1934-1958. Photographs depict Los Angeles area events and dedications primarily 1940s-1950s.
Background
John Anson Ford (1883-1983) was a Los Angeles County Supervisor (1934-1958), Democratic Party activist, and major supporter of the arts. He helped found the Los Angeles County Arts Commission; supported the building of The Music Center; and led the County's acquisition of Descanso Gardens, among many other notable accomplishments.
