Collection consists of material related to the careers of writers Paul and/or Margaret Schneider. The bulk of the collection includes drafts of scripts, story outlines, synopses, notes, memos, and schedules documenting a variety of television projects such Bonanza, Macus Welby M.D., and Star Trek , among others. Additionally, there are documents related to motion picture, radio, and theatre productions.

At the time this finding aid was created, there was little biographical information available about either Paul or Margaret Schneider. Born in New Jersey, August 4 1923, Paul Schneider graduated from Harvard University with his BA in 1945. He married Margaret Perrin on April 10, 1950 and worked as a freelance writer until being hired by Universal City Studios in 1967, a position he retained until 1974. At that time, Paul was hired as a head writer for the show Love of Life with CBS Studios. Schneider's credits include the films The Looters and Ride the Whirlwind, the television programs Star Trek, Bonanza and Marcus Welby, M.D. and the plays Acrimonious and Effigy. Paul Schneider died in October, 2008.
Margaret Flood Perrin (Schneider) graduated from UCLA with a BA in 1949. Upon graduation, she worked as a Los Angeles City public school teacher from 1944 and 1955. During this time she married Paul Schneider. After leaving the Los Angeles Public School System, Margaret Schneider worked as a staff writer for both Universal and MGM Studios from 1957-1975 and then as a head writer for CBS between 1975-1976. Her credits include the television programs Marcus Welby, M.D., Dr. Kildare and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. Margaret Schneider died on June 20, 2008.
