Description
This collection is comprised of photographs taken by Michael Burr. The collection includes black and white photographs of various sizes of Saigon, South Vietnam in 1969-1970s, as well as colored photographs of Vietnam between 2003-2005.
Background
Michael Burr served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and in 1969 was deployed to Vietnam and served as an English language instructor to the Republic of Vietnam Air Force. While in Vietnam, he began taking photographs, which led to his career in photography. He has served as a community events photographer in Cambodia Town, Long Beach for numerous events, including the Cambodia Town Film Festival, as well as in the Orange County Vietnamese American community. He has also photographed Southeast Asian American student-led events at college campuses in Southern California.
