Collection consists of papers relating to the U.S. Navy and to naval officers, including letters, orders, commissions, records of various ships, including the U.S.S. Constitution, and other documents.

Charles T. Harbeck (1850 or 1851-1929) was a businessman and naval historian and was author of A Contribution to the Bibliography of the History of the United States Navy (1906), published with the assistance of the New York and Boston Public Libraries.
