Description
Papers of Robert J. Gould, physicist and research professor at the University of California, San Diego. Materials include notes, calculations, drafts and reprints of many of Gould's research papers.
Background
Robert J. Gould, born May 31, 1935, began his studies at Providence College where he obtained his B.S. in Physics in 1957. In 1963, he graduated with his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Cornell University. Shortly after graduation from Cornell, Gould began teaching physics at the University of California, San Diego, where he remained throughout his career. His research focused on atomic, nuclear, and particle processes; statistical mechanics; and applications of astrophysics.
