    Scope and Content of Collection

    Contains sound recordings of interviews with language students in the Military and Naval Attaché's offices in Tokyo, Japan prior to World War II relating to American military assessments of Japan. Includes eight sound cassettes with interviews of General Munson (2 tapes), Brigadier General Robin B. Pape (2 tapes), General Maxwell D. Taylor, Colonel Alexander George, Captain H. H. Smith-Hutton, and Brigadier General John Weckerling. THe collection also contains typed and handwritten transcripts with edits by interviewees. Additional material includes correspondence with interviewees and other language officers and notebooks.
