Description
The Jana Marcus papers includes exhibit photographs, text panels, a book, and related material from her Transfigurations project. Transfigurations was a photographic series focused on the transgender community in Northern California. The exhibit includes portrait photographs of transgender people and personal statements. Transfigurations the exhibit toured galleries and universities across the United States in the 2000s. Jana Marcus has been an award winning Bay Area photographer for over 30 years. She received her MFA from San Jose State University and a BA in Community Studies from the University of California at Santa Cruz. The collection includes a digital copy of the book that can be made available for personal research and scholarship; contact the archivist for access.
