This collection contains family papers of the Connors and O’Neill families, who were active in Old Town San Diego in the mid-1800s
to early 1900s.
Background
The Connors and O’Neill families, related through marriage, were active in Old Town in the mid-1800s to early 1900s. Patrick
O’Neill owned and operated the American Hotel in Old Town and served as postmaster there. Paul Connors served as a police
officer and court bailiff in San Diego. The O’Neills are also related to the Machado family through the marriage of Patrick
O’Neill and Lorenza Machado.
