In 1988, San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park acquired this collection from Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

Collection Scope and Content
Red Stack Line papers (SAFR 240, HDC 481) consist of a logbook, a Red Stack Line Ship Owners and Merchants Tugboat Company
business card, and a minimum wage scale classification schedule. Dates range from 1912 to 1917. This collection has been processed
and is open for use without restriction.
The logbook contains calculations kept by Captain M.R.J. Downey while working for the Red Stack Line Towboat Company. The
minimum wage scale classification schedule lists ferry boats, tow boats, stern wheelers, and bay craft and was printed by
the Marine Engineers Beneficial Association No.35. It was adopted December 19th, 1912 and took effect April 1, 1913. The business
card of the Shipowners and Merchants Tugboat Company, Red Stack Line lists all the tugs and tug calls on the back.
