Scope and Content
Edward Chace Tolman, professor of psychology, University of California, Berkeley, was the foremost leader among the faculty in the protest against the loyalty oath.
These papers were transferred from the University Archives to The Bancroft Library Manuscripts Division in 1966. Related material--records of the Group for Academic Freedom, of which Tolman was chairman was retained in Archives.
