Am deeply grieved to hear the calamity that has befallen my Native State, How can I best serve her now. I beg you to command my entire services. Could I render better service by remaining New York to take part in obtaining financial assistance or by returning California. If you can give me authority I will solicit subscriptions from Californians now resident New York, London, South Africa. Reply seventy one Broadway New York. Arriving there tomorrow.
