NETS, CAMOUFLAGE, TWINE * FABRIC GARNISHING

Applicable specifications and Drawings.
1. Specifications.- The specifications enumerated below of the issue in effect on the date of the invitation for bids are made a part of this Specification; except that in case of their conflict with this specification the provisions of this specification shall govern:
  1. U.S. Army Specifications, Nos.:
    1. - Corps of Engineers, General Packing Specifications.
    2. - Standard Specifications for Marking Shipments.
    3. - Corps of Engineers, Tentative Specification for Nets, Camouflage.
    4. - Corps of Engineers, Tentative Specifications for Fabric, Impregnated Camouflage.
  2. Drawings. - Such drawings, photostatic prints, or samples as are listed in the invitation to bid are made a part of this specification.
2. TYPE AND SIZE.
  1. Type. - This specification covers fabric garnished camouflage twine nets.
  2. Size. - The garnished nets shall be in widths and lengths as stated in the invitation to bie.
3. MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP.
  1. Material. - All material furnished under this specification shall be new, unused, of recent manufacture, and of the higheset grade, free from defects and imperfections, and shall be in accordance with this specification and approved drawings.
  2. Workmanship. - Workmanship throughout shall be of the highest grade and in accordance with the best standard practice.
4. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS.
  See Section E.
5. DETAIL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Netting shall confrom to Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army Tentative Specification T-1534.
  2. Fabrics. - Impregnated camouflage fabric shall conform to Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army Tentative specification T-1212.
  3. Pattern.- The pattern and density of garnishing shall follow that indicated on the drawings, photostats or samples furnished.
  4. Color. - Color of fabric garnish will be designated on the drawings or in the invitation to bid.
  5. Fabrication. * The method employed in garnishing the material into the nets may be either manual or mechanical as approved by the Contracting Officer. The contractor shall submit his method of fabrication to the Contracting Officer for approval prior to actual fabrication.
6. INSPECTION AND TESTS.
  1. Inspection.- The plant in which the netting is being manufactured shall be open at all times during working hours to the Contracting Officer and his representatives or inspectors who shall have the right to follow the material through all the processes of amnufacture. Every facility, including suitable office space, supplies and equipment shall be given the inspectors for the proper execution of their work.
  2. Tests. - The netting will be given such tests as may be necessary to assure compliance with this specification. When tests are made at the factory, the contractor shall furnish all the necessary facilities therefor, without expense to the Government. The contractor shall also furnish such information as may be necessary to determine whether the materials used are as specified. The manufacturer will be held responsible for any defects in material or workmanship which are of such a nature that they cannot be detected by reasonable inspection or tests.
7. PACKING AND MARKING FOR SHIPMENT.
  1. Packing.- The equipment shall packed or prepared for shipment in water proof container, in accordance with good commercial practice in order to insure safe delivery. When specifically called for in the invitation to bid, for export shipment, the equipment shall be packed in accordance with U.S. Army, Corps of Engineers Specification No. 49.0-7.
  2. Marking. - The marking for shipment shall be in accordance with U.S. Army Specification No. 100-2. Color and size of the garnished net shall be clearly indicated and underlines in large letters on the outside of the package with permanent markings.
8. NOTES
  1. Copies of this specifications, and drawings may be obtained from the Office, Chief of Engineers, Washington, D.C.
  2. When Government drawings, specifications, or other data are used for any purpose other than in connection with a definitely related Government procurement operation, the United States thereby incurs no responsibility or any obligation what so ever; and, the fact that the Government may have formulated, furnished, or in any way supplied the said drawings, specifications, or other data, is not to be regarded by implication or otherwise as in any manner licensing the holder or any other person or corporation or coveying any right or permission to manufacture, use or sell any patented invention that may in any way be related thereto.
