Abstract:
Holograph letter written and signed by William B. Whiting, a Lieutenant and Commodore in the U. S. Navy, from Delafield, Waukesha
County, Wisconsin to his cousin in Cooperstown, New York. The letter is about an offer he received from Harpers Bros. of New
York to reduce the price of their published book "Among Our Sailors" to $1.50 per copy if he were to purchase 366 copies for
each member of Congress. Whiting wants to know whether the price reduction is unusual, as claimed by the publisher, and on
what terms his cousin could procure the book for him. He also apologizes for the short letter as his eyes are inflamed and
his occulist has forbidden him from writing.
