Note:
William Henry Crocker was born in Sacramento on January 13, 1861, son of Central Pacific Railroad magnate Charles Crocker.
He became a successful financier as president of the Crocker National Bank, was a member of the University of California Regents
for thirty years, chaired the Panama-Pacific Exposition Committee, was a member of the committee that built the San Francisco
Opera House, and founded the Crocker School in Hillsborough, California. His wife Ethel helped introduce French Impressionist
painting to California, his uncle Edwin's home became the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, and his cousin Aimee became a
world-renowned bohemian mystic and partygiver. Crocker died in Sacramento on September 25, 1937.
