on a mission for the U.S. Dept. of State as adviser on soil erosion and conservation; manuscripts and printed copies of his
articles on conservation, forestry and land reclamation. Also included: copy of Mrs. Lowdermilk's reminiscences of travels
with her husband, The Heavens Cooperate.

W.C. Lowdermilk (1888-1974) was a soil conservationist. He worked with the Belgian Relief Effort after World War I, in China
in the 1920s to help avert famine, in Palestine planning land and water use in support of the formation of Israel, and served
as Assistant Chief of the U.S. Soil Conservation Service.
