brothers standing next to each other, in trousers and jackets buttoned to the neck, holding caps. They are approximately age
7 and 4, the elder identified as John Thornton Washington, the younger as Franklin Bedinger Washington.

Identified in note accompanying image no. 2, in the later hand of a family member of Franklin Washington.
The portrait by Ford probably dates from 1854-1855, based upon business locations.
