Volle and Rusch families. Citrus Heights (Calif.) pioneers. According to family records, Ernest Heinrich Volle and his family
emigrated to the United States from Germany in 1846 and settled in Evansville, Illinois. In 1851 their son, (August) Frederick
W. Volle married Julia Dora Heimroth, a native of Elberfeld, Germany. In 1853 Frederick and Julia journeyed to Sacramento
(Calif.) by covered wagon, In 1858 they moved to Center Township (Citrus Heights, Calif.) and established a 480 acre ranch.
Herman H. Rusch emigrated from Prussia in 1868. In 1872 he married Louisa M. Volle in Sacramento. In 1916 their children,
Frederick Herman and Julia Matilda Rusch, inherited 320 acres from their grandmother, Julia Volle. In 1950 the Rusches donated
15 acres of the land to establish Rusch Park.
