Abstract:
One holograph travel pass written and signed by E. D. Townsend by order of Assistant Adjutant General from the War Department,
Adjutant-General's Office, Washington, [D. C.] to grant permission to Reverend Mark Trafton of Albany to travel to Fort Monroe
and then to New Bern, North Carolina. One travel pass from Office Provost Marshal, District Mobile, Alabama to H. Hereford,
a citizen of Mobile, to travel by railroad from Mobile to Sumterville, Alabama. The permssion is given by order of S. O. Lewis,
Major and Provost Marshal, and signed by Corydon W. Smith, Lieut. Captain and Assistant Provost Marsha. Printed on left side
of pass: Office of Provost Marshal, Corner of Royal and St. Michael Streets.
