Abstract:
Holograph letter written and signed by Theodore W. Weld, one of the leading architects of the American abolitionist movement,
to the Hon. F. W. Bird, an antislavery leader, state legislator, and paper manufacturer of East Walpole, Massuchusetts. The
letter, written from Hyde Park, thanks Bird for his birthday invitation, expresses his regrets for not being able to attend
due to prior plans, and offers his congratulations to Bird for having reached 75 years old and for having lived a life devoted
to good principles, good government, and always in behalf of "Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity" in the State and the Nation.
