Nine handwritten letters from a shipmaster sailing along the Pacific coast in Chile and San Francisco to his mother containing
mostly personal regards with some details about his locations and destinations. Two letters, both dated in 1875, are from
aboard the Barque Empress Eugénie in Coquimbo, Chile. Six of the letters are written aboard the Barque Dorsetshirs from various
locations in Chile including Coquimbo, Coronel, Valparaiso, and Talcahuano. One letter, dated May 12, 1876, is written aboard
the Dorsetshirs from San Francisco.
