Abstract:
Commercial tourist postcards depicting Native Americans, chiefly from Arizona, New Mexico and other regions of the Southwest.
Postcards also depict pueblos, cliff dwellings and other aspects of Native American culture. Among the tribes and locations
depicted are Navajo, Moki (Hopi), Tesque, Phantom Cliff CaƱon, Rito de los Frijoles, Pueblo Bonito, Acoma, Laguna, Hoonah,
Isleta, Santa Clara and Orabai. Other locations depicted include Santa Fe (New Mexico) and Superstition Mountain (Arizona).
Other subjects include tourist views of California missions, Santa Barbara, giant sequoia, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite Valley,
Riverside (Calif.), Pasadena and Monterey. Also includes folder containing similar postcards, as well as a portrait of Santiago
Martinez of San Ildefonso; a brochure for the Mission Play of the San Gabriel Mission; a brochure for the Bishop's Lodge of
Santa Fe (N.M.); and other ephemera.
