Robert F. Sawyer is Class of 1935 Professor of Energy Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley, where he conducted extensive research and taught air quality science, emissions control, energy conversion, fire safety, and rocket and jet propulsion from 1966 until his retirement in 1991. He also is a visiting Professor of Energy and Environment at University College London. Dr. Sawyer holds a Ph.D. in aerospace science and a Master of Arts degree in aeronautical engineering from Princeton University. In addition, he earned Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in mechanical engineering from Stanford University.
