Depicted in many photographs are Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Charles Bukowski, Jack Hirschman, Cherkovski's partner Jessie Cabrera, and Cherkovski family members Clare Cherry, Sam Cherry and Tanya Cherry. Among numerous others depicted are David Meltzer, Diane DiPrima, Harold Norse, Bob Kaufman, Allen Ginsburg, Jack Micheline, A.D. Winans, Eileen Kaufman, Francis Ford Coppola, James Broughton, Gregory Corso, Harold Norse, John Ross, Cesar Chavez, Enrico Banducci, Henril Lenoir, Luke Gibney, Jim Carrol, Emma Bukowski, Chris Kanios, Jack Mueller, Janet Weiner, Charles Martinez, John Norton, Jack Foley, Adelle Foley, Yannis Livadas, Nicola Viviani, Patrick O'Sullivan, William Norton and Ludwig Zeller. Neeli Cherkovski was born Nelson Cherry in Santa Monica in 1945, to father Sam Cherry (who became an established photographer in San Francisco in the 1950s) and mother Clare Cherry; worked as a political consultant in the 1970s in Riverside; in 1975 moved to San Francisco to work for then-California Senator George Moscone; produced the first San Francisco Poetry Festival; friend and biographer of Charles Bukowski, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Bob Kaufman; taught literature and philosophy at New College of California until the school closed in 2008.
