Abstract:
Correspondence relating to donations, the study of a permanent memorial, and the transfer of the fund to the University of
California.
Includes letter from Franklin K. Lane to John H. Finley, May 4, [1921] outlining plan for a "super university" for the exchange
of ideas, and urging its sponsorship by the New York Times. Also, presenting plan for a group of elder statesmen to advise
the nation and spur government to action on vital problems.
With letter, Feb. 25, 1939, from Finley to Adolph C. Miller, and copies of correspondence with President Robert G. Sproul
concerning gift of the letter to the University of California and the establishment of the Franklin K. Lane Memorial Foundation.
