Abstract:

Includes portraits and snapshots of Grinnell's family (most from Pasadena, Calif.), portraits of coleagues at the University of California, Berkeley and elsewhere, some photos of the Cooper Club and Museum of Vertebrate Zoology events. Also present are snapshots of an Alaskan trip and scenes from Kotzebue, Alaska (1898-1899, photographed by Clyde Baldwin), taken when Grinnell joined the Long Beach and Alaska Mining and Trading Company and journeyed from San Pedro on the schooner "Penelope". One cityscape of Tombstone, Arizona (1880's?, on a Fly's Gallery card mount) is present. Scenes of California wilderness include both photographs and postcards. Among views of Eaton Canyon, near Pasadena, is one view of a California condor.
