Abstract:
Printed way-bill of the Oregon Stage Company filled out for 6 stage coach passengers and dated November 11, 1866. Three of
the passenger names are listed as "John China," two as "China", and one as "Chinaman." The second item is a printed receipt,
prepared in advance by W. P. Mayhew, road agent for the stage company, for John D. Clement, as proof of payment for his services
as hostler for the month of August 1866. A U.S. Federal tax stamp is affixed and cancelled using the initials of the payee,
J.D.C, and dated September 1, 1866. On verso, $[40.00] Voucher No.[20, Jno D. Clement, Hostler] Paid [Sept 1st] 1866.
