Pictures from trips (including camping) around the United States include scenes in the Rocky Mountains, views of Montana and
Yosemite, Calif. Many views of Sierra Nevada scenes are also included. Matthes is pictured with the crew of the Richfield
Eagle airplane after a flight over Sequoia National Park in 1936. Two copies of a portrait of Matthes' father are included,
as is a pastel of Mono Lake by Frances C. Kirk. Other items include photographs taken to illustrate Matthes' publications,
photographs of rocks and landscapes with captions explaining their geological significance, and snapshots from various Boy
Scout trips.
