Abstract:
Scrapbook containing photographs, postcards, clippings and ephemera which document the travels of Corkran in Mexico. Pages
are illustrated in white with sketches reflecting the themes of the photographic images. Initially, pages are arranged and
labelled thematically: money, gateways, agua caliente (women), natives, beauty (women), homes, phases of life, travel, farming,
sports (bullfighting and cockfighting), and mummies (Guanajuato). Other pages are arranged by geographic location: Monterey,
Irapuato, Querétaro, Mexico City, Teotihuacan, Ixtaccihuatl, Xochimilco, Cuernavaca, Puebla, Atlixco, Pachuca, Manzanillo,
Guadalajara, Mazatlan, La Cruz, Culiacán, San Blas, Los Mochis, Topolobampo, Guaymas, and Tiburon, among others. Includes
several group portraits of workers in a mine, agricultural views, landscapes, town views, antiquities, and other sites. One
multi-part panorama of Los Mochis was laid-in the album. Some snapshots of Corkran and companions are present.
