Abstract:

Two holograph orders written and signed by Jonathan Hoffman of the Army of the Cumberland. The first order is to Brigadier General Newton in Chattanooga, Tennessee about Newton's telegram having been received, the troops being under General Rousseau and their dispositions were supposed to be as Rousseau desired. The second order is from Atlanta, Georgia to Brigadier General John F. Miller in Nashville, [Tennessee] about General Thomas directing Miller to tell General Rousseau to hold Forrest at Pulaski, [Tennessee] as long as he can as Thomas tries to get a force on his right-flank near.
