Leland Lazarus worked as both an attorney and a judge. During his early career, he was a reporter for the San Francisco News
and a field administrator for the National Recovery Administration. He sat on San Francisco's Municipal and Superior Courts,
and he served on the San Francisco Board of Education. He was also a member of the Democratic Central Committee of San Francisco
and an officer of the Press Club, the Lawyers' Club, the Jewish National Fund, B'nai B'rith's Lodge No. 21, the San Francisco
Histadrut Council, and the American Jewish Congress.
