Keith Kellum was born in Oakland, Calif., in 1939. He graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1965, and obtained a
law degree at Boalt Hall, University of California, Berkeley in 1968. Kellum worked for the Alameda County Public Defender's
Office in Oakland from 1968 to 1979. After contracting multiple sclerosis, he concentrated on using legal remedies to eliminate
architectural barriers in public facilities. Kellum died in Albuquerque, N.M., in 1988.
